Curriculum vitae

Rudibert King held several positions in the Institute of Process Engineering and was head of the Chair of Measurement and Control in this Institute. He was the speaker of the collaborative research center on Substantial efficiency increase in gas turbines through direct use of coupled unsteady combustion and flow dynamics (SFB 1029) and the speaker of the collaborative research center on Control of turbulent shear flows (SFB 557). He was the speaker of an interdisciplinary research group "Bio-compatible ceramics for cell cultures" and vice-chair of the Applied Life Sciences and Technology Pool. In teaching he was responsible for compulsory lectures on Measurment and Control for students from Chemical and Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering Science, Bio- and Foodtechnology, and for other courses. He is active in various committees inside and outside of the TUB. He studied Technical Cybernetics (Technische Kybernetik) at the University of Stuttgart from 1975 to 1980. In 1981 he subsequently joint the Institute for Systems Dynamic and Control which was headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. mult. E.D. Gilles. He received his Ph.D. degree (Dr.-Ing.) from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Stuttgart in 1988. The thesis was entitled “Model-based supervision of hazardous chemical reactions”. In 1993 he finished his Habilitation at the University of Stuttgart on “Mathematical models of filamentous microorganisms”. His work was honoured with the Dechema-Preis 1992 of the Max-Buchner Forschungsstiftung . In 1993 he joined the University of Siegen as a Professor for Simulation Techniques and moved to Berlin where he was appointed to Professor for Measurement and Control in 1995 until his retirement in 2021.

    The Chair is responsible for measurement and control courses for students in the study fields of Process and Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering Science, Applied Mechanics, Foodtechnology, Biotechnology and for other courses.
    Present courses are:

    • Robust multivariable control in the frequency domain
    • Nonlinear Control
    • Learning Control
    • Control in bio- and foodtechnology
    • Structure and parameter identification
