Curriculum vitae

Rudibert King is presently the deputy director of the Institute of Process Engineering and the head of the Measurement and Control Group in this Institute. He is the speaker of the collaborative research center on Substantial efficiency increase in gas turbines through direct use of coupled unsteady combustion and flow dynamics (SFB 1029). He was the speaker of the collaborative research center on Control of turbulent shear flows (SFB 557), the speaker of an interdisciplinary research group "Bio-compatible ceramics for cell cultures" and vice-chair of the Applied Life Sciences and Technology Pool. In teaching he is responsible for compulsory lectures on Measurment and Control for students from Chemical and Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology in Mechanical Engineering, Bio- and Foodtechnology, and for other courses. He is active in various committees inside and outside of the TUB.

He studied Technical Cybernetics (Technische Kybernetik) at the University of Stuttgart from 1975 to 1980. In 1981 he subsequently joint the Institute for Systems Dynamic and Control which was headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. mult. E.D. Gilles. He received his Ph.D. degree (Dr.-Ing.) from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Stuttgart in 1988. The thesis was entitled “Model-based supervision of hazardous chemical reactions”. In 1993 he finished his Habilitation at the University of Stuttgart on “Mathematical models of filamentous microorganisms”. His work was honoured with the Dechema-Preis 1992 of the Max-Buchner Forschungsstiftung .

In 1993 he joined the University of Siegen as a Professor for Simulation Techniques and moved to Berlin where he was appointed to Professor for Measurement and Control in 1995.

He authored and co-authored several papers and serves as Associate Editor in the Journal of Process Control, at-Automatisierungstechnik, and as member of the advisory board of Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering.
